True Love=Broken Hearts

If anyone loves Demetrius as much as I do it is Jayden. I cannot describe the extent to which he loves his daddy. It amazes me every day. Well, today it broke my heart and Demetrius' as well. Here's what happened...

Demetrius had to go to the Seminary to work on a paper so Jayden and I walked him to the car. We knew Jayden would cry when he left because he always does. But after spending several days straight where Demetrius did not leave his sight, he was more upset than usual. Picture this now...Demetrius pulls out of the driveway (Jayden screaming in the background) and starts driving down the street. Jayden dramatically runs down the driveway, into the street (which he never ever does because he knows he is not allowed) and starts chasing the car. Meanwhile I go after him and witness major tears streaming down his face and falling onto the pavement. Sad is the only way to describe it. He was heartbroken. I was heartbroken. And as you can guess Demetrius was most heartbroken as he watched from the rear view mirror.

Fun Times

Rock-a-Bye baby in the tree top! I have to watch Jayden anytime Journey is within reach because he LOVES his baby sister so much that he wants to touch, poke, kiss, stroke her ALL THE TIME! He loves to swing her really fast which she obviously does not like too much.

Sweet Christmas baby! My friend from college sent this Santa outfit for Journey. I thought she looked adorable in it. Of course I think she looks adorable 100% of the time! I mean, would you look at those cheeks???

This was Jayden's first time holding Journey. He squeezed a little too hard, which caused this funny look you see on Journey's little face. The contrast of their hair colors makes me laugh too!

Thanksgiving Vacation

This year we were not able to travel for Thanksgiving and since our roommates' families came into town we decided to take a family vacation here in Florida. We stayed in Sarasota, Fl at a friend's parent's condo. We had the place to ourselves and we definitely enjoyed the get-a-way. We did miss our families and the traditional Thanksgiving feast (no I did not cook thanksgiving dinner). This pic represents what Journey did the entire 4 days we were there...sleep!

We ventured down to Siesta Key, a beautiful beach with powder-like sand. It was gorgeous but Jayden was afraid of everything. He eventually played in the sand a bit but he mostly enjoyed sitting in the yellow chair chugging his apple juice from his cup. He is a peculiar little kid to say the least. Gotta love him...

I decided to put Journey in this very "florida-like" dress since we were near the beach. It was way too cold for spaghetti strap dresses but I had to at least put in on for the picture. Because as you can see she's growing out of her clothes FAST! She continues to capture our hearts with her sweet spirit.

Jayden continues to be awe struck over his "daaaaaad." I thought this was a sweet picture. He thinks everything Demetrius does is cool (except when Demetrius has to spank him of course).

Our Sweet Journey

I love my mommy and daddy! I slept all night a few nights ago (well from 11:30-5:30). My parents were so happy. I'm gonna try to do that again really soon.

I'm learning to like my bathtime. Check out my big muscle. I'm flexing for the camera. I hear everyone calling me "bigs" I think that means a good thing! Aren't I pretty? My mama tells me that all day long.

Reflux

Our sweet girl has reflux. We thought she might have a mild form since she spits up so much (out of nose and mouth) and she often wakes up in pain (and in a pile of puke). We took her to the doctor yesterday and they prescribed liquid zantac. We have seen immediate results and she is doing so much better. Side note...she weighed a whopping 11 lbs 4 oz! Jayden weighed 9 lbs at one month. She is sleeping really well at night...having 4 hr stretches regularly, a few 5 hour stretches and even a 6 hour stretch! She struggles with the late evening time but we are hopeful that will pass with time. Overall, she is doing great. We couldn't ask for a sweeter baby. Oh, and she has given us a few glimpses of her beautiful smile this week. Hopefully we will catch it on camera soon.

All picked out

I decided to pick Jayden's hair out this morning. He didn't like it. I did it anyway. Thought I'd post these for all to enjoy the big blonde afro. I don't think I'll ever be ready to cut his hair.

More Pics

Halloween Night...fun times handing out candy and playing with Daddy.

I will be putting lots of pics of the kids up so that our families won't miss too much. So beware...I will be plastering the blog with baby updates and pics as often as possible.
This was taken right before her two week appointment. Gotta love the hair bow!
A cute picture of Journey sitting in her "TT's" lap (Demetrius' sister Angela). Who by the way is here with us and has BEEN A HUGE HELP!!!! Thanks again sister...
With a little help Journey loves to suck her thumb. She just hasn't quite figured out how to find it herself. Hopefully soon...

Changes

Here is a picture of Jayden on Halloween (thanks for the shirt Julia). His expression is one we have seem often since Journey's arrival. He's been quite defiant these days. We are hopeful that he will return to his fun-loving "chilled out" self before too long!!!
Journey's first bottle...she proceeded to projectile vomit right after she finished. Slightly defeating. We won't be trying the bottle again for another week or so.

Journey's 2 week appointment went well. She is a picture of health. She is in the 90th percentile for weight (9lb 11oz) and 61st percentile for height (still 20.5 inches). Her doctor said she is definitely "over feeding" and I quote "some babies just get carried away." She is still sleeping pretty well but is having trouble during the evening hours not wanting to go to sleep (a familiar story). I am so thankful for her sweet personality and chubby little face! I think she looks more like she's two months old rather than 2 weeks old...

Family Photo Shoot

We had family pictures and newborn pictures of Journey taken on Monday. Our photographer has put a few up on her website. These pictures are the most amazing ever! I'm not kidding...go take a peek.
